Demopolis Sept 26th. 1845. Mr. A P. Pfister. Sir.      I recd a day or two since your letter in reference to the Chapter at this place, but I have mislaid it and can answer it only from a recollection of its contents --
     It is not necessary to state how the mistake arose as to the price of a dispensation -- It is sufficient to state that the amount enclosed to Comp. Creagh[?] was the amount supposed to be correct nor was the Chapter otherwise informed until the receipt by Comp. DuBose[?] of your first letter on the subject. He as he states to you enclosed that letter to me, but why to me I cannot tell -- I hold no office in the Chapter, and in fact only recd the Chapter degrees since its organization here-- I therefore feel under no individual obligation to advance the remainder of the price of the dispensation -- I will however lay your letter before the Chapter at its
